Class B fractional pre-vacuum is the most advanced sterilisation method currently available: a sequence of vacuum pulses and steam injections completely removes air from the chamber. This allows sterilisation of complex-shaped instruments – catheters, endoscopes, dental handpieces, saws, scissors – which lower-class autoclaves (N or S) cannot reliably process.
